SaaS (Software as a Service) to generate 37.5 % of revenue in the cloud in 2014
Next year is set to be crucial for cloud computing. According to a study by Acens, in 2014 the cloud is likely to generate 200,000 million dollars, in such a way that companies would be spending the same amount on the purchase of traditional equipment as on the pay-as-you-go cloud.
This economic growth will come from different areas, some of them directly related with EDICOM, as is the case with SaaS services. Software-as-a-Service could represent around 37.5% of the total income generated by the cloud. Translated into figures, this percentage represents 75,000 million dollars.
Moreover, in 2015 the cloud will continue to grow. It is calculated that SaaS sales will then represent some 24 % of total software sales worldwide. And within two years, the forecast is that 90% of large companies and public administrations around the world will be using cloud computing.
Other relevant data from the Acens study made reference to the increase in data generated by the different devices connected, which will foreseeably reach 50,000 million gigabytes in 2020. By then, humanity will have stored no more and no less than 35 zettabytes.
