Article 9 of the regulation sets out a detailed list of mandatory particulars with the information that product manufacturers and distributors must provide for the end consumer, for example extended nutritional information, place of origin of the product, or a full list of ingredients.
The regulation, drafted to provide more extensive protection of the rights and health of European consumers, also clearly states that the end user should have access to all the information and always prior to purchasing the product.
This way, the regulations specify that the information must be present both at the physical point-of-sale in the form of labelling or other accompanying material and in remote sales (article 14), such as purchases made through the distributors and suppliers’ online stores.
