Food labelling changes also to affect online sales
31/03/2014
On 13 December this year, Regulation 1169/2011 of the European Parliament and Council on nutritional information to the consumer comes into force. A text which consolidates previous legislation on labelling and legislatively affects all Member States.
The new rules will mean major changes in the food industry, even in cases of distance marketing or online sales. This means that suppliers and distributors must share and keep this nutritional information updated on their websites or mobile applications to furnish their customers with it before they make their purchases. A complex task which the EDICOMData electronic catalogue simplifies through different product file management services, such as the GS1 Source network.
