Mexico: Workers' payroll to be electronic as of 2014

Effective January 2014, all payroll and salaries issued in Mexico must be generated as CFDI e-documents as occurs with all electronic invoicing in Mexico. This is how the news was publicly announced on Mexico´s SAT (Servicio de Administracion Tributaria) website, reporting on its coming into force in 2014

In Mexico, the payroll process usually takes place twice a month, and businesses are required to obtain and store for 5 years a receipt signed by the worker for each salary paid, and involves an average cost of 37.11 pesos per document. This process entails significant inefficiencies that may be resolved by applying electronic solutions such as those developed by EDICOM, which allow savings of up to 62% per document.
