Streamline the Integration of EDI Partners and Messages with the EDICOM Partner Test and Certification Portal
We have created the Partner Testing and Certification Portal to facilitate partner onboarding in communication flows. The online portal creates a space of autonomy where the partners themselves will validate EDI messages to achieve the quality levels expected by the Portal Host.
This environment provides the dedicated tools needed to closely monitor partner progress by checking the set project KPIs at all times.
The portal allows companies to outsource an important part of the Onboarding process: the testing and certification phase. The portal simplifies and streamlines this process as the entire testing phase for EDI message exchange is done independently by the partners themselves, who play an active role in the integration process. This produces benefits for the Portal Host:
Certify multiple partners from a single platform
Optimize partner onboarding and partner community growth
Acceleration of the adaptation process of new partners
Streamline inclusion of new EDI messages with existing partners
Eliminate resources allocated to communication test phases
Simplification of the production phase thanks to the verified quality of the content of the messages. In addition, this certification portal also generates benefits for those partners that need to connect with these multinationals:
Comply with large multinational’s EDI requirements
Enhance EDI flow knowledge and expertise
Run tests independently
Full portal availability
Partner Testing and Certification Portal: How it works
The online portal creates a space of autonomy where the partners themselves will validate EDI messages to achieve the quality levels expected by the Portal Host. This is how it works:
Let’s say a company wants to roll out an EDI project with its partners to include a shipping notice message. The company makes the certification portal available to its trading partners, so they can run the tests they need to do.
To facilitate the test phase with its partners, the company defines a project in the portal with two different scenarios, depending on the management method used. One scenario is targeted at food industry partners, for example, while the other is for the rest of the partners.
Together with the company, EDICOM generates a validator for each project scenario. The validator will validate the technical and content requirements of the specifications established by the project promoter. The company will set a lead time for running the tests and a minimum number of tests that the supplier must achieve to pass the scenario.
The promoter provides the partners with access to the portal and specifically, the assigned projects and scenarios. As the tests are run, it will generate feedback on the deliverables in the form of OK or error messages, according to the previously defined specifications.
The company will have full visibility over project status at all times, both globally and for each partner. The project manager can use the portal for real-time monitoring of process progress: general project status, scenarios pending, tests run by each supplier, outcomes of each scenario, etc.
Once a supplier has passed the test scenarios, the supplier is ready to connect with the company and initiate the production phase.
How to streamline partner integration and EDI business flows in your company?
Through this testing and certification portal, companies and their partners can start to work together in the short term and with the guarantee of complying with all the requirements established in the business relationship. Here are two practical cases where a company could make use of this portal:
Ongoing onboarding of new EDI partners: The company rolls out the testing and certification portal in the sphere of partner onboarding. It generates a project with a test scenario for running tests with the required EDI message. The partner builds its EDI transactions following the requirements in the guide and checks its test messages against the validator.
EDI project extension with new EDI messages: In this case, the Portal Host that contracts the portal already has a wide number of partners but needs to implement new EDI messages to optimize its processes. The Host will define the different scenarios depending on the type of partner and the EDI messages to implement with each one of them, such as dispatch advice, order response, inventory report, credit note, etc… It will assign partners to the related scenarios and each partner must check that its files comply with the requirements set by the company.
