EDICOM Takes Part in ODETTE International Exhibition 2018
The Odette International Conference is one of the most relevant events in the automotive sector, as it focuses on study and analysis of the latest trends in B2B technology applied to the industry. This year, the main theme of the event is digital business transformation and its impact on business processes and the supply chain.
During the two days of the event, executives from large automobile companies and experts in the development of EDI solutions share and exchange knowledge about the most effective electronic communication systems for the management and exchange of supply chain data.
Two of the speakers will be Francesca GAMBONI, Senior Vice-President Supply Chain, Peugeot Group and Jürgen MAIDL, Senior Vice-President Supply Chain, BMW.
The event will cover a wide range of topics, such as:
Global Transport Label – the Essential Physical Support for Digitalisation

On-Boarding Tier2 Suppliers with EDI Standards
Harnessing the power of Blockchain to increase Speed and Visibility in Global Trade
Applying JIT Techniques to the Supply of Returnable Packaging
Bringing RFID Capability to a large Packaging Pool
e-Invoicing: Let's Make it the Norm for Invoicing and drop the 'e'
EDICOM will be at booth 25, presenting our sector-related solutions for VAT compliance, e-Invoicing and EDI, to optimize and automate the flow of messages between partners in the sector. We also participate in the conference on electronic invoicing, explaining about the implementation of the electronic invoice in Italy, which comes into force on January 1, 2019.
Our colleagues will be able to answer your queries through the following link, arrange a meeting with us at Odette2018, and keep you up-to-date on the news we publish before, during and after the conference.
EDI Global Automotive Platform
Our EDI communications platform is specifically designed for the sector, enabling multi-format data transformation (EDIFACT, X12, ODETTE, etc.) and multi-protocol (AS2, AS4, OFTP2, mechanisms (WebServices, x400, etc.) for transparent integration of all the messages exchanged with your partners (whether they are manufacturers or first-tier suppliers), ensuring the sending and receipt of any business document.
EDICOMNet is the EDICOM value-added network, a comprehensive service for the transmission of critical data in B2B environments. Through this infrastructure, we ensure that your electronic transactions and other business documents reach their destination properly, with delivery fully guaranteed and through secure channels to ensure the confidentiality and integrity of the messages exchanged. Through the EDICOM value-added network, any OEM or TIER can send and receive the required documents electronically: DELFOR, DELJIT, DESADV, INVOIC, etc…
There are currently two trends in the automotive industry. On one hand, standardization of VDA messages, for which new versions have been rolled out, and on the other, the incorporation of lower-level suppliers to the information flow, to ensure traceability and the seamless exchange of information through EDI systems. Our solutions are ready to adopt these new schemas. Through new information mappings, we can quickly transform the documents to the required schema using the information from the ERP.
The working systems in the automotive world, such as Just In Time, along with the heterogeneity of supply chain providers, make it necessary to roll out technological solutions that facilitate communications. Thanks to EDI technology, manufacturers can permanently share information on warehouse stocks, notifications of goods received, etc.
What is the usual EDI flow in the automotive sector?
The international scope of the solution streamlines and simplifies document processing and archiving for businesses.
EDICOM's global e-Invoicing sending and reception platforms are perfectly adapted to the specifications of the source and destination countries where our customers operate. This adaptation entails legal issues that may affect the signature, declaration and archiving process for invoices as well as technical aspects related with document formats or the communication protocols to be used.
In Italy, e-invoicing becomes mandatory for all private companies as of January 1, 2019. Through our Public Administration HUB, we implement a secure and direct communication channel with the SdI through the communication protocol defined, both for sending and receiving. Our HUB is also the platform in charge of receiving status acknowledgments from both the SdI and the final recipient.
In Portugal, compulsory e-invoicing also comes into force with the Public Administration in January 2019. The Portuguese solution for e-Invoicing with Public Administration will have an electronic billing portal for all public entities (Central, Local, Regional and Business), based on a totally dematerialized model capable of interoperating with ERP systems.
