Electronic invoicing in Guatemala is evolving to reflect the reforms defined in the Agreement of the SAT Directory No. 13-2018. These changes will move the country from the FACE e-invoicing model, created in 2011, to the FEL model. The end date is 1 July 2021, when only the FEL system will be authorized for the issuance of electronic tax documents by companies registering for the first time with the tax authorities.
As a step toward full implementation of the FEL model, all taxpayers must migrate to the new version of the electronic file containing the DTE by 1 September 2020. To facilitate its adoption, the new XSD version has already been published: GT_Documento-0.2.1.xsd.It serves as a guide to generate any electronic tax document in Guatemala.
