SAP, in its different versions, is probably the ERP with the deepest market penetration for IT systems management in businesses worldwide.
The first SAP integrations rolled out by Edicom at the turn of the century were done by FTP, after receiving all relevant validations thanks to the transfer trials run with the ERP developer's head office in Germany.
Later, with the launch of EBI (Edicom Business Integrator), Edicom developed its own EAI (Enterprise Application Integration), taking the final step in the enhancement and optimization of our integrations, now based on file exchange and processing architectures via STARTRFC, the native SAP application in command mode for transactional data transfer with the ERP as the source or destination.
Subsequently, in the search for transactional systems to facilitate integrations with what is surely the leading ERP on the market, Edicom launched its first direct SAP – Ediwin connector for Microsoft framework. A new communications system that made connection with files unnecessary, moving on to direct connectivity through IDOCS.
The new version of this connector is Java-based, expanding the capabilities of this product to extend the direct integration potential to practically any SAP installation independently of the platform on which it is implemented.
In sending processes, this connector enables an IDOC generated by SAP to be sent directly from the ERP to the Edicom platform for mapping, validation and forwarding to its destination. In reception processes, it is the XML/EDI platform which sends the IDOCs to the ERP by this system, removing the need to use intermediate folders for file downloads, achieving more solid, secure and robust integrations for SAP user businesses.
Itelligence, one of the major service providers worldwide in SAP frameworks, active in North America, Asia and Europe, took part in developing the Edicom - Java SAP Connector.
Thanks to this collaboration agreement, at Edicom we had SAP’s native APIs at our disposal and a complete working environment parameterized from the consultancy, which was instrumental in carrying out the necessary tests to enable the development and optimization of this new connector.
