“I think the way our FE operates is the most successful among all countries sharing the model”
Ricardo Pizarro | SII
Almost 2 months after mandatory electronic invoicing (FE) came into force in Chile, the Internal Revenue Service (SII), reports a successful sign-up campaign. According to the latest figures provided by the Department, from a potential universe of 9880 large companies, 87% are now operating with the system. This figure represents an increase of 17 percentage points compared to the 70% - some 6911 businesses - signed up at the end of October, before the legal requirement came into force. If we take into account that another 4% are currently in the certification process with the tax watchdog, to date some 91% have taken up the system.
We interview Ricardo Pizarro, Head of Taxpayer Support and Assistance and IRS spokesperson on all electronic invoicing-related issues in Chile, to find out his take on the process and what the State's next steps to facilitate transactions among taxpayers in the B2B age will be.
