How to choose an electronic invoicing solution?


Chile is today, with Mexico and Brazil, one of the world's most advanced countries in the e-invoicing area. In fact, this is highlighted in the latest Billentis report, which singles out Chile as the root of this technology model in Latin America. However, the obligation to join the electronic system did not come into force until a year and a half ago. Since then, many companies affected by the measure are asking themselves how to choose an appropriate e-invoicing solution.

Now, the main businesses affected are 90,000 SMEs that must start using the Electronic Tax Document (DTE) by August 1 . To this end, it is important to weigh up the following aspects before deciding on an e-invoicing provider and solution:

  1. SII authorization

Chile's tax agency performs certain tests on companies that apply to be providers of this service to ensure that the solutions work properly. So, it is crucial that the taxpayers first of all check that the company is included in the SII list of providers authorized to issue DTE.

In addition to this accreditation, the company should also hold other international certifications that bolster its reliability, such as ISAE 3402 or ISO 27001.

Chilean law sets out deadlines for migration to e-invoicing which must be met. Otherwise, taxpayers may run the risk of sanctions and fines. For this reason, it is vital to choose a provider that undertakes to comply with the dates set.

  1. Adaptation to each type of company

The needs of large and small businesses are different. And DTE issuing solutions must be different too. In any case, the most advisable course of action is to contract a solution that allows scalability. In fact, international adaptation should also be taken into account, so that if at some point the company starts to operate in other markets it can also continue to use the same e-billing solution in those countries.
