On 10, 11 and 12 October, the EDICOM team will be heading to Miami to take part in the CIAT Technology Meeting. This international event, held by the Inter American Tax Administrations Center, is focused on the application of technology to tax management with public administrations. Governments around the world, especially in Latin America, are increasingly turning to paperless solutions to improve fiscal control and facilitate compliance of businesses for tax purposes.
The conference takes place at the Hilton Miami Downtown from 14:45 on October 10 (local time). EDICOM will be at stand number 9 to provide visitors with advice and technological solutions for e-invoicing and tax management. In general, a varied audience is expected, ranging from public sector civil servants and international tax administrations to IT specialists and other company managers. The event is open both to CIAT members and professionals from any organization.
Technology to boost efficiency
Paying taxes and administrative management are two of the tasks taking up most time and resources for businesses. However, in recent years the application of technology has proven to be a great ally, automating many of these processes and enhancing efficiency. The figures back this up. The Paying Taxes 2016 report states that Mexican companies cut the time given over to these activities almost by half –from 500 hours to 286– between 2004 and 2014.
However, the advantages go beyond productivity. With paperless solutions, companies also benefit from economic cost savings and enhanced security. The spearhead of this techno evolution is electronic invoicing, which will no doubt be one of the main talking points at the CIAT Technology Meeting.
Today, e-invoicing is already mandatory in numerous countries in Latin America and Europe, so any multinational operating in these markets will have to adapt to the technological leap. Mexico, Brazil and Chile are among the most advanced regions, where practically 100% of tax-related communications are electronic. Here, in addition to e-invoicing, the technology is already used in other tax compliance processes such as accounting or payroll management.
Companies around the world that do business in Latin America are now faced with the challenge of adapting their technology to the requirements in place in each country. In this sense, it is crucial to engage the services of a certified e-invoicing service provider, to respond to the needs of the different regions.
To facilitate compliance, EDICOM has designed an integral solution, which provides service in over 70 countries worldwide. The Global e-Invoicing platform allows multinational companies to address their tax administration from a single software, integrated with their management system. In addition, through EDICOM’s Permanent e-Invoicing Observatory, work continues on a daily basis to keep the solution permanently updated with the new requirements laid down in each country’s legislation.
