The annual RVCF event featuring technology for the retail sector is here and will continue in Arizona until November 9th. EDICOM will be participating once more. The objective is for attendees to receive first hand knowledge about more advanced electronic solutions that optimize the flow of communication between different entities of the supply chain.
The Challenges of the Retail Sector
The companies in the retail sector encounter many obstacles while exchanging documents among their partners. These obstacles stem from more than just the large volumes of documents (orders, invoices, delivery notices, etc.) that need to be exchanged. One of the main problems is that in these business relationships many different types of entities are involved from big companies to small businesses with limited technological capabilities.
Furthermore, many times, today’s global world demands the use of cross border B2B communications. This requires that companies be able to adapt to different technical and legal standards since each country has different requirements. For this reason, the e-invoice has become mandatory in many Latin American countries as well as in Europe and different types of it are used in different regions.
In contexts like these, the management of B2B communications can become fragmented therefore decreasing efficiency processes. However, current technology makes it possible to centralize and automate communications in the retail sector to increase productivity. RVCF attendees can verify these types of technology at the event.
Solutions for the Retail Sector
EDICOM’s team, located at stands 6 and 7, has developed three technological solutions that optimize electronic communication in the retail sector. They are as follows:
EDI Global – This is a platform for electronic data interchange that’s integrated into a company’s internal management system. EDI Global makes it possible to standardize commercial documents and exchange them securely and automatically with any partner in the supply chain regardless of its location or technological capabilities.
EDICOMData- This is EDICOM’s electronic catalogue that’s certified to operate in the GS1 GDSN network. This solution allows distributors, manufacturers and providers to synchronize information structured in XML format in real time such as product data.
Global E-Invoicing- Since the use of the e-invoice is becoming more widespread in the world and since it has become mandatory in Latin America and Europe, the global e-invoice has become a fundamental solution in the retail sector. This platform integrates with a company’s management system and automates the generation, declaration, sending and receiving of e-invoices while complying with the requirements in more than 60 countries. This makes it possible to centralize fiscal compliance in a single solution.
