What Will Be The Top Technological Trends in 2019?

26/11/2018

In 2019, technological trends will be continuing on their path to consolidate the new business scenario that will prevail in coming years, which is defined by the digitalization of the business environment, the application of Artificial Intelligence, data analysis and automated work systems. At the same time, responses to this scenario also create technological trends such as cybersecurity, edge computing or blockchain that will become relevant in 2019.

What technological trends should we focus on in 2019?

One trend we should focus on is virtual environments. Cloud computing is transforming how companies are developed. Cloud services provide immediacy, flexibility, and agility, which are key factors that enable a business to be competitive. There is no turning back. Digitalization is the future. In 2019, businesses must continue to rely on services such as IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service), SaaS (Software as a Service), and iPaaS (Integration Platform as a Service).

These virtual systems provide companies with cost savings, total accessibility, and scalability compared to local environments. Furthermore, in addition to their implementation and development, they are an essential step for collecting and analyzing data, which provide important information for making business decisions. As a result, a solution called iPaaS (Integration Platform as a Service), which is used for integrating applications in the cloud is destined to experience a surge in usage.  These virtual systems allow businesses to overcome issues associated with isolated applications and data in business environments.

The adoption of digitalization. As digitalization advances, technology serves as the backbone of the entire transformative process. The benefits of digital transformation for companies include: improved relationships with customers, reduced costs, and improved efficiency and production processes.

Both B2B and B2C relationships are moving towards paperless processes, which is why electronic data exchange and EDI technology are essential tools. Even though they are not novelties, they haven’t been used on a massive scale so organizations must place them at the center of their strategic objectives mainly because the digitalization of company operations is a legal requirement just like tax compliance or electronic invoicing.

The application of Artificial Intelligence and the Internet of Things will continue to develop and lead to new and more advanced technology and applications. For example:

  • Autonomous devices. Applying Artificial Intelligence to objects is what defines autonomous devices such as robots, drones or autonomous vehicles. Applying Artificial Intelligence involves focusing on more advanced models that interact in a more natural way with the environment. These devices allow users to automate tasks that until now were carried out by people. Its introduction into companies’ productive systems will be increasingly common especially in certain areas.
  • By connecting objects to the Internet, valuable information is generated and when transferred and analyzed it will serve a purpose. The Internet of Things has many varied applications that are already widespread such as RFID tags or chatbots.

In 2019, one of the trends that will gain relevance is edge computing, a system that allows for the optimization of a collection of information generated in the application of the Internet of Things by locating intermediate points between objects. The collection and delivery of content take place closer to the sources of information with the idea that maintaining local traffic will reduce latency.

Increased security. The concern for a secure environment increases as the everyday life of companies and individuals develops in virtual environments that involve security in data transactions processes, the protection of information provided, and etc. These new approaches find answers in technology and companies must ensure their guarantees of privacy, confidentiality and the security of their transactions.

In 2019, we will also continue to advance in the development and application of the blockchain system that is precisely related to information security. However, this won’t be achievable for several years.

Today it is hard to understand how businesses can function without Internet. Likewise, in a few years it will be unimaginable for a company to continue storing information and important documentation on local servers or in filing cabinets. Therefore, as a short-term goal, technological trends involve making companies more efficient, placing the customer at the center of their strategies and reducing costs in the medium term and long term. The adoption of technology must be progressive, respond to market demands and be scalable according to business growth.
